1What does PURA VIDA mean in this country?
If someone asked me to describe my country in one or two words, I wouldn’t think twice about it. “Pura vida” would be the answer. The most commonly used phrase in Costa Ricaliterally means “Pure life”, but the saying goes beyond its simple translation: it’s a way of life. Contextually, then, it symbolizes the idea of simply enjoying life and being happy. As the Urban Dictionary states, it’s a synonym of “hakuna matata” and reflects the relaxed lifestyle of Costa Ricans. Foreigners can hear this Spanish expression in informal settings as a greeting, a farewell and as a way to express gratitude or satisfaction. It can also refer to someone who is nice and friendly.

PAYMENT

1WHAT IS YOUR REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICY?
TERMS AND CONDITIONS AGREEMENT Enrollment in and payment for a service or a package implies agreement and acceptance of the terms and conditions set forth below. In this agreement, Costa Rican Safari may be referred to as the “Operator” or as “Jonathan Ramírez´´ RESERVATIONS All reservations should be made in writing either by fax or e-mail. Costa Rican Safari will promptly answer every request within 36 hours of receipt of request. PAYMENTS Individual bookings 1-3 rooms: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to guarantee the services listed in the itinerary. The remaining payment of 50% is due no later than 45 days prior to tour departure for individual reservations. For Christmas season a 50% deposit must be received at time of booking. The pending balance is due 120 prior to arrival and a minimum stay of 2 nights is required. For Christmas and New Year’s Eve we provide a special dinner and per person fee of $100 must be added (non-commissionable). For group reservations please check with your travel agent payment and cancelation policies. FORM OF PAYMENT All payments must be received in U.S. dollars. Payments may be made in the following manner: (Not available yet) - Credit Card Authorization Form (VISA or MasterCard) completed legibly, in full and personally signed by the client. Charges will be made in US dollars. We kindly request that you notify us when payment is sent, either by sending a faxed copy of the check or informing us by e-mail. - Transfer instructions below: We will send to you all details We kindly request that you notify us when payment is sent, either by sending a faxed copy of the wire confirmation receipt or informing us by e-mail. Please include the amount and date of the transfer; as this is the only way we can confirm it. Upon receipt of payment by transfer, we will provide you with a receipt and confirmation of all services listed in the itinerary. MODIFICATION / CANCELLATION NOTICE Cancellations must be received in writing, either by phone (+506 8981 35 59) or e-mail. The following charges will apply when cancellation is made after the booking is confirmed by Costa Rican Safari. In case you need to modify your hotel pick-up, please call our main phone line only (506) 8981-35-59 between 6am-6pm Central time/ Sundays 6-8am/3-6pm. Otherwise, your absence at the confirmed location will be considered a No-show and will be charged at 100%. Cancellation Policy FIT reservations (1 to 3 rooms) Cancellations must be received in writing, either by fax email info@costaricansafari.com no later than 45 days in advance of your trip to avoid penalties . A U.S. $50 handling fee will be made. Cancellations received 44 days or less days prior to arrival will be fully charged at 100% (the entire package rate). Note: During Christmas season (December 21 – January 05) FIT cancellations must be received no later than 90 days in in advance of your trip. Cancellations made with less than 89 days written notice will be fully charged at 100%. For New Year’s Eve we provide a special dinner with an additional fee (please contact your travel agent for more information). Group reservations (4 to 7 rooms) Cancellations must be received in writing, either by email info@costaricansafari.com Cancellations made with 60 or less day’s written notice will be fully charged at 100% (the entire package rate). We strongly recommend cancellation insurance. Note: During Christmas season (December 21 – January 05) cancellations must be received no later than 90 days in advance of your trip. Cancellations made with less than 60 days written notice will be fully charged at 100%. Group reservations for 8 to 19 rooms: Consult our reservation agents please. Note: The same fees apply for partial cancellations of a booking. REFUNDS No refund will be made for no-shows of any unused portion of the itinerary, whether voluntary or caused by airline delay or cancellations. A 4% will be taken from the total amount for bank services and will be reflected in your credit card 20 days after request. PRICING Our trips include all services as specified in the respective itinerary. The final itinerary and price that is accepted by the client shall be considered binding in its nature (whether by e-mail or fax) and only those services mentioned will be included. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS All clients will receive upon arrival an envelope with a welcome letter, information about contact persons and emergency numbers, copies of final itinerary and vouchers. All clients should be properly advised that only vouchers from Costa Rican Safari are valid in Costa Rica and are non-transferable. INSURANCE Costa Rican Safari is covered with an insurance policy issued by the National Insurance Institute of Costa Rica (Instituto Nacional de Seguros). However, we strongly suggest that your agency, or the clients themselves, arrange for a short-term traveler’s insurance covering baggage, accident/life and trip cancellation. Please note that Costa Rica’s insurance industry is state-owned, and the insurance that we are permitted to purchase for our trips is limited. If the rare occurrence of an accident should happen, the client will be responsible for paying for medical attention received at the time of service and will need to contact his/her insurance company directly for reimbursement upon return to their home country. Costa Rican Safari is not responsible for covering any medical costs not specified in our insurance policy, including transportation to/from medical services, translation or interpretation services or hospital deposits; nor are we liable for a client’s inability to make the required payment. SAFETY AND LIABILITY We will spare no effort to provide you with the highest quality, most enjoyable experience possible. Costa Rican Safari’ guides are among the best in the business and each is trained in Standard First Aid, CPR, and Swift Water Rescue. They will instruct you on all safety measures before each trip and will advise you as the trip progresses. A fully stocked first-aid kit is standard equipment on every trip. However, outdoor and adventure activities can be physically demanding with inherent elements of danger beyond our control. Costa Rican Safari (its owners, associates, agents and employees) assumes no responsibility for injury, loss, damage to person or property, or for additional expenses due to acts of God (sickness, weather, etc.), strike, detention, riot, war, quarantine, thefts, civil disturbances, or government regulations or restrictions. We are not responsible for any accidents, delays, inconveniences, expenses or mishaps of any kind whatsoever resulting entirely, or in part, from the negligence of others or from causes beyond our control. We reserve the right to make reasonable changes and/or substitutions in the itinerary where deemed necessary. For those trips and tours where Costa Rican Safari is not the source or provider, we act solely as agents and as such assume no responsibility should any supplier fail to provide the service contracted. Baggage is the sole responsibility of the owner and will be transported at the owner’s risk. We reserve the right to decline to accept, or to retain, any person as a tour member for any reason that affects the operation of the tour, the rights and welfare or enjoyment of the other tour members. A refund of the recoverable land tour services is the limit of Costa Rican Safari liability in this event. We cannot allow persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs on any of our trips. No refunds will be given under such circumstances . MEDICAL AND HEALTH Persons with known medical conditions, pregnancy, dietary restrictions or problems should make them known to Costa Rican Safari well before arrival. Our company will make every effort to accommodate dietary or other requests, at times with an additional cost to the client. We reserve the right to disqualify anyone at any time during the tour if it is felt that the individual is physically incapable of performing an activity and/or if that individual’s continued participation would jeopardize the safety of the group or handicap the normal functioning or scheduling of the tour. Costa Rican Safari assumes no responsibility for special arrangements necessary or problems. Experienced for or by passengers physically unable to participate in the planned activities with no previous notification. Privacy Policy Thank you for visiting www.costaricansafari.com. We want to share with you the policies we have adopted to protect your privacy so that you feel confident about how we handle the personal information you entrust to us online. When you make travel arrangements with Costa Rican Safari and you provide information about yourself, we use this information to complete your order, fulfill any customer service requests and provide relevant information to you via e-mail. We will never rent, trade or share your address with anyone for any reason whatsoever. You will never get an unsolicited e-mail from a stranger as a result of contracting our services or joining our newsletter. Costa Rican Safari uses your credit card or financial information solely for processing purposes and we do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete your order and fulfill your travel arrangements. Statement of Customer I have read the above agreement and its terms and conditions, and I accept them in their entirety. I agree to pay the total amount for the Requested Services. I agree to pay in accordance with the Cancellation Terms set forth above. I understand that in the event of a cancellation or service modifications, I am responsible for all applicable fees and penalties charged by the individual service providers. -
2WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear whatever is comfortable. It is recommended to have a sturdy pair of broken-in trail shoes, boots, or sneakers. It is preferable to dress in layers and wear clothing that will wick away perspiration and keep you dry and comfortable
